The Upper Dublin School District abides by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504) and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which prohibit discrimination on the basis of disability. To be protected under Section 504, a student must be determined to: (1) have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities; or (2) have a record of such an impairment; or (3) be regarded as having such an impairment.
Documentation of the disability and data supporting need within the educational setting must be evaluated by the school multidisciplinary team. If a student is determined eligible for and in need of accommodations under Chapter 15 of Pennsylvania Law, then a 504 Service Agreement will be developed to encompass the accommodations required for equal access to the educational program.
