students in classroom

Jarrettown's fourth graders embarked on a tasty STEM-inspired experiment in anticipation of American Education Week. The students put on their engineering caps to build the tallest free-standing marshmallow and toothpick tower with their groups in 30 minutes. To begin the lesson, students explored the role of engineers and the work they do. They then engaged in the engineering process, moving through stages of brainstorming, planning, preparing, building, and reflecting. Along the way, students developed essential soft skills, enhancing their ability to collaborate and problem-solve.
